苹果同意对其供应商的中国工厂进行污染控制审查

苹果(Apple)已同意对其供应商在中国的一家工厂进行受到联合监督的污染控制审查。环保活动人士认为这显示出，他们劝说这家世界市值最高企业解决环境问题的努力取得了突破。

一家为苹果生产印制电路板的制造商将在未来几周内接受审查，苹果和位于中国的公众与环境研究中心(IPE)将联合监督审查过程。上月，苹果对美国公平劳工协会(FLA)的一份报告表示支持。该报告建议，中国三家生产苹果产品的富士康(Foxconn)工厂应改善工作条件。

如今，环保问题似乎开始受到同等程度的关注。

近几个月来，苹果与非政府组织IPE进行了长时间的对话。IPE从官方数据中收集整理出了一个数据库，其中包含发生在中国的9.7万起环境违规事件。

IPE牵头的环保联盟2010年发布了一份报告，指出29家企业在中国的供应商存在有害废弃物导致污染、危害人体健康的问题。苹果是其中仅有的一家未对该报告作出回应的企业。

正在旧金山参加一个环保颁奖典礼的IPE主任马军向英国《金融时报》表示，2011年9月，即在该联盟发布第二份报告、称苹果供应商制造污染的情况正在加剧和扩散的两周之后，苹果的态度发生了转变。苹果与IPE的对话始于北京，后来双方又进行了一系列讨论，最终在去年10月底，双方在位于美国库比蒂诺的苹果总部进行了长达5个小时的会谈。

 Apple agrees China supplier pollution audit

Apple has agreed to a jointly monitored audit of pollution controls at a supplier’s factory in China in what activists see as a breakthrough in their efforts to persuade the world’s most valuable company to address environmental concerns.

A maker of printed circuit boards for the Silicon Valley company is due to be inspected in the next few weeks by auditors with Apple and the China-based Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE) jointly monitoring their efforts. Last month Apple backed a report by the Fair Labor Association that recommended improvements in working conditions at three Foxconn factories in China where its products are made.

Environmental matters now appear to be getting the same level of attention.

Apple has held lengthy talks in recent months with the IPE a non-governmental organisation that has amassed a database of 97000 environmental violations in China from official data.

Apple was the only one of 29 companies that failed to respond to a 2010 report by an IPE-led environmental coalition on hazardous wastes from suppliers causing pollution and health problems in China.

Ma Jun IPE director who is in San Francisco for an environmental awards ceremony told the Financial Times that Apple’s attitude changed in September 2011 two weeks after a second report said pollution discharges were expanding and spreading in Apple’s supply chain. Talks with the IPE began in Beijing and led to a series of other discussions culminating in a five-hour meeting at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters at the end of October.
